'La Mula' Ongoing Woes Lead to Spanish Injunction
03 Sep 2010 | The Irish Film Board and UK Film Council have today released a joint statement outlining their position with regards to ‘La Mula’s ongoing financial woes. Reports have emerged that ‘La Mula’s Spanish co-production company, Gheko Films recently approached both the UK’s Department of Culture Media & Sport (DCMS) and Irish Finance Minister in a bid to resolving the film’s financial situation. Furthermore Irish co-producer, Subotica’s Tristan Orpen Lynch has explained to IFTN that an injunction has now been set against Gheko Films. 
Blair & O’Callaghan in 'Late Late' Hot Seat
03 Sep 2010 | Ryan Tubridy returns tonight, Friday September 3rd with a brand new season of ‘The Late Late Show’, the world's longest running chat show. The first show of the new season will feature Tony Blair, Donncha O’Callaghan, Jedward and Imelda May. Ryan's first season as host proved a big success, attracting good ratings along with hosting the most successful Toy Show in 15 years. 
Hobbs & Shanley Fight for Consumers Rights
03 Sep 2010 | Eddie Hobbs (Rip off Republic) and Keelin Shanley (Prime Time) will look to fight for Irish consumers’ rights in ‘The Consumer Show’ starting this Monday, September 6th at 8.30pm. The pair will front the new Coco Television series that aims to champion on behalf of the buying public and raise awareness of important consumer issues. 
Pat Shortt Finds Detective 'Mattie'
03 Sep 2010 | Following on from its pilot broadcast last Christmas, Pat Shortt’s hapless detective ‘Mattie’ will return for a new six part series starting Sunday, September 5th. Directed by Shimmy Marcus (Soul Boy) the series was shot in June 2010 around locations in Limerick.

02 Sep 2010 | Filmbase Training is planning its busiest autumn ever: launching several brand new courses and hosting talks and seminars with industry experts from home and abroad. After building on six years of success as an Apple Training Centre, Filmbase has also recently added several Adobe Certified Courses to their range of professional industry training. The upcoming speakers and tutors include make up artist Terri Pinnell (Portrait of a Zombie), actor Hugh O’Conor (My Left Foot), casting director Thyrza Ging (Savage) and directors Lenny Abrahamson (Adam and Paul) and Sonya Gildea (Bua). 
TV3's 'Road to Dublin' Lead to Europa Final
02 Sep 2010 | Motive Television has reportedly signed a €1.1m live sports production contract with TV3 to co-produce coverage of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League with Asgard Media. 
EDN Online Pitching Call for Projects
02 Sep 2010 | The European Documentary Network (EDN) has introduced a new system of EDN Online Pitching. The new thematic pitching format is based on an online video conference, where a selected number documentary projects are introduced. For the first session EDN is calling for documentary projects with a cross platform potential. The deadline for receipt of entries is September 15th. 
RTÉ Drama Seeks New Projects
02 Sep 2010 | TV Drama and feature film submissions are currently being accepted by RTÉ Drama. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, September 17th and the broadcaster intends to review TV dramas and feature films that have a resonance for an RTÉ One audience for the next BAI round - closing 5th November 2010. 
FÁS Opens Bursary Award Applications
02 Sep 2010 | FÁS Screen Training Ireland supported by Bord Scannán na hÉireann / Irish Film Board is currently inviting applications for the Screen Training Ireland Bursary Award Scheme. The scheme is open to experienced industry professionals and enables successful bursary recipients to participate in international training programmes, work placements and mentoring to assist their professional development. 
Tyrell & Apple ‘Making the Grade’
02 Sep 2010 | September 22nd, 23rd & 24th will play host to three individual free one day courses entitled ‘Making the Grade’. The grading course, from Tyrell CCT in association with Apple, will give established FCP editors with a limited knowledge of online and finishing techniques the opportunity to learn key techniques to improve "the look" and output quality of their programs and VTs ready for transmission.

RTÉ Launches Storyland 3
01 Sep 2010 | RTÉ is today holding a briefing session to introduce the third installment of its commissioning competition, StoryLand. StoryLand 3 is a competition for online drama series that sees eight series and 21 episodes of new drama commissioned by RTÉ and the audience. 
'His & Hers' Hits €300,000 at Irish Box Office
01 Sep 2010 | Ken Wardrop’s ‘His & Hers’, which was released in Irish cinemas on June 18th, has now reached a gross box-office of over €300,000 making it the highest grossing documentary released in Ireland since Michael Moore’s ‘Farrenheit 911’. This is a fantastic result for the Irish documentary, which was made on a micro budget of just €100,000. Opening on week one on just €40,000, the power of word of mouth means the film has now grossed 7.5 times this amount. 
TG4 Announces 'Emotional' Autumn Line-up
01 Sep 2010 | A major new series profiling each of the 1916 Proclamation signatories; the story of the man who invented the documentary film using the Aran Islands as his testing-ground; a revealing television history of Irish rugby; Hector’s invasion of Canada; award-winning documentaries and a return to free-to-air TV for Magner’s League rugby are to form key elements in the TG4’s 2010 Autumn Schedule. 
Green Inc Going 'Live' and 'Daily'
31 Aug 2010 | Green Inc Film & Television has gone into production with ‘Four Live’ and ‘The Daily Show’ – shows that will broadcast in what was the slot of the group’s previous lifestyle magazine show ‘The Afternoon Show’ on RTÉ. The company is also in production with ‘The Many faces of…Richard Wilson’ for the BBC. 
Irish Actor Mick Lally Dies, Aged 64
31 Aug 2010 | One of Ireland’s most well-known actors, Mick Lally, has passed away. The actor, known best to Irish television audiences for his long-running role as Miley Byrne in ‘Glenroe’, died this morning, aged 64, after a short illness. 
UTV Interim Revenue Up 9%
31 Aug 2010 | UTV Media PLC has released its interim results for the first half of the year. The findings in the report see group revenue up by 9% to £59.2m (2009: £54.4m) and Pre-tax profits up by 17% to £9.4m (2009: £8.0m) It’s further reported that an improvement in the UK airtime market in the first quarter of 2010 was not matched in the Irish marketplace but the second quarter brought growth in both the UK and Ireland. 
Radharc Documentary Deadline Approaches
31 Aug 2010 | Friday, September 10th has been announced as the closing date for entries to the Radharc Awards - presented to the producers of documentaries which address national or international topics of social justice, morality or faith and honour the memory of the late Fr. Joe Dunn.
