Monaghan
Monaghan also known as 'drumlin country' with its vast collection of small hills created in the Ice Age is located at the border with Northern Ireland within close proximity to both Dublin and Belfast. Home of acclaimed Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh, who wrote stirringly about its bleak landscape, Monaghan still retains many of its idiosyncrasies which found their way into Irish literature. Offering visitors ample amounts ensure constant entertainment Monaghan is also home to the stirringly beautiful Castle Leslie Estate where Paul McCartney famously married Heather Mills.
